Another tricky one.
Well, seeing as I’ve only recently moved to London I’m quite happy exploring where I am. I’ve made a little headway on the London museums but have a long way to go to see everything on offer there but when it comes to photography in London I’ve barely made a start.
Somewhere I have made a start is Epsom Common. This is a large, ancient wooded area that merges with it’s neighbour Ashtead Common and is crisscrossed with paths. It’s featured a number of times already on the blog and, unsurprisingly, is about to feature again.

I’m still on the lookout for the deer that live on the common but they seem to have disappeared since we had the snow so I’ve turned to birds instead. The woodpecker above was busying away at the top of a nearby tree – so far up it that I actually didn’t hear it. The only reason I noticed it was due to the tiny bits of tree that were landing around me and thankfully it hung around for a couple of minutes for me to take some photos.

Pretty sure he’s just posing now, Epsom Common, 16/03/2018
With the ‘Beast from the East’ performing an encore last weekend I pottered off round the common for a few hours to see what I could find.

Wrong time of year for Christmas cards unfortunately, Epsom Common, 19/03/2018

The RSPB website tells me these are jackdaws – might have to work on my bird knowledge, Epsom Common, 19/03/2018
4 hours and those are the only birds I managed to get in focus.

As did these, erm, plants. The RSPB website didn’t know what they were either, Epsom Common, 19/03/2018
So where would I rather be? Hunting around the common for wildlife? Exploring London?
Prague. I’d love to visit Prague
Or Cuba… or Norway. Never been to the States and Canada looks amazing. Always wanted to go to Chile. Hong Kong! What about a safari? And I’ve promised to go to Costa Rica to take some house photos. Vietnam, Cairo, Athens, Istanbul…
